The spirit of this post captures our sentiment and reiterates our stance that we, as members of the mountain biking community, are just as concerned with the safety and welfare of all trail users as well as preservation and maintenance of the sanctity of the Pacific Crest Trail.
To the individual who posted this note, we applaud your sentiments and welcome you to join our efforts!
“As a life long hiker, life member of the Sierra Club , current member of [Pacific Crest Trail Association], and an avid [mountain biker], I have to say the misinformation, hyperbole, and just plain mean ill will displayed on this list is at best disturbing. The average [mountain biker] is as concerned about wilderness values as the hiking/equestrian community. There are [mountain bikers] that are [jerks] – on and off the trail. There are hikers that are [jerks] – on and off the trail. I’ve met enough of both, but both are definitely in the minority. I think we can do better than what I’ve seen so far. We have far more in common than we do differences.”
